最近因為『霍爾（ＤＤ－５３３）』倖存乘員，霍斯特雷德爺爺的回憶訪談影片，跟史蒂芬生先生聊起，他們維斯科沃團隊如何判斷海燕團隊發現的殘骸為『約翰斯頓（ＤＤ－５５７）』，並決定去找她的往事，在下覺得很有意義，於是也跟各位分享^_^

Aboard USS HOEL, a Japanese shell hit the barrel and tore it in two. The broken barrel rolled around on the deck for a while. That was the Number 4 gun mount, Mount 54.
When Vulcan found the debris of a Fletcher-class destroyer in the Philippine Sea in 2019, they were not sure if it was from JOHNSTON or HOEL. In the debris were the remains of 3 5”/38 gun mounts. One was in pieces in different places. The other two were on deckhouses and turned upside down, with the gun barrels in the mud of the ocean floor. One was obviously the Number 3 mount (Mount 53), the other one was either the Number 4 (54) or Number 2 (52) mount. I studied it closely and saw a unique structural beam that matched one on KIDD. It was located just aft of Mount 54. So, the debris had to be Mount 54. The gun barrel was intact, not broken as we knew HOEL’s barrel was broken. Therefore, I knew that the debris that Vulcan found had to be JOHNSTON and the main wreck was somewhere nearby. That is the reason why we specifically went to look for JOHNSTON in 2021.
All of that because of HOEL’s broken gun barrel.

『霍爾』艦上，１枚日軍砲彈命中砲管並將之轟成兩截。折斷的砲管在甲板上滾了一會兒。那是第４砲塔，也就是５４號砲座。
２０１９年，海燕團隊在菲律賓海底發現１艘弗萊徹級驅逐艦的殘骸時，他們不確定這是『約翰斯頓』還是『霍爾』。

殘骸區（Debris field）內有３座５吋／３８倍徑砲塔殘骸。其中１座已破碎並落在別處。另２座則在甲板室上，並上下顛倒，砲管插入海底泥漿中。有１座顯然是３號砲塔（５３號砲座），另１座可能是４號砲塔（５４號砲座）或２號砲塔（５２號砲座）。
我仔細研究它，發現一條獨特的結構樑，與『紀德』艦上的結構樑相符合。它位於５４號砲座尾部。所以，這些碎片肯定屬於５４號砲座。其砲管完好，沒有出現我們知道的『霍爾』砲管損毀情形。
因此我知道，海燕團隊發現的殘骸必定是『約翰斯頓』，而殘骸主體就在附近某處。這就是我們團隊（維斯科沃團隊）在２０２１年專程去找『約翰斯頓』的原因。
這一切都是因為，『霍爾』損壞的砲管。
